About Industrial Design:
Industrial Design is the physical or conceptual solution that optimizes the value, function, and appearance of a product, system, or method for the benefit of the user. We are problem solvers. Many of our assignments come in the form of a problem. Sketching is our language. We create conceptual drawings, 3d computer models, and physical appearance models to communicate our ideas for solutions. We strive to optimize these solutions. If a design is not effective, then it’s not good. We strive to create solutions that function. A product that does not do its job is a waste of a product. We strive to create solutions with value. Quality is a priority. We strive to design solutions whose appearance – the product, the packaging, the advertisement, – is aesthetically pleasing. We design products- physical goods. We design systems – a combination of parts to form a whole. We design methods – a way of doing things. We design solutions with the user in mind. We study how people work, move or think and we make design decisions based on our findings.
